About Me

My name is Josh Summersgill and I believe that every person on the planet deserves to reach their true physical potential, and optimal health and wellbeing in life. My true passion is helping people achieve what they previously believed to be impossible. Whether that is to compete in the sport of Weightlifting, build the body that they have always dreamt of, or just simply develop their confidence and excel.
 
As a performance coach I have studied and practiced in a number of training disciplines including Martial Arts, Gymnastics and Functional Fitness, this has led me to my specialist area and niche, Olympic Weightlifting. I am proud to say that I am a certified British Weightlifting Coach and have been helping people for over 8 years to become stronger, and improve their Olympic Lifting Skills. During this time I have had the privilege of coaching over 500 athletes, and witnessed each one of them become more skillful with a barbell.
 
I am a true believer that you should practice the craft that you teach. I have trained physically since a very young age and I am currently a competitive Senior National Weightlifter and England Championships Medalist.
 
I wholeheartedly believe that as human beings, we each learn in different ways and have different learning styles. A one size fits all will work great for a robot, but we are not robots. I pride myself in treating each and every one of my clients holistically, with the individuality that they need to develop and progress. This has lead me to develop a “Bespoke Experience” model for my clients.

The dark art that is Olympic Lifting. The Snatch and The Clean & Jerk are two of the most incredible and fascinating exercises that you will ever see performed in the gym. The benefits of these epic lifts are endless, but only if performed correctly. Whether you are brand new to the barbell and haven’t performed a Back Squat or Deadlift, or you have years of experience from either Weightlifting or Functional Fitness, I am here to take you to the next level!

I WANT TO PURSUE LONGEVITY AND Stay FIT & HEALTHY FOR AS LONG AS POSSIBLE

What if I told you that you can be stronger, fitter and more mobile than you ever been in your life… in your 60s! Through strength training, metabolic conditioning and mobility work, this is entirely possible. Rather than aim to simply survive in to your 90s, why not aim to LIVE in to them instead!

I HAVE BEEN DOING FUNCTIONAL FITNESS CLASSES FOR A WHILE NOW, AND WANT TO LEVEL UP

Functional fitness classes are brilliant, they are a great way to improve your health and fitness, whilst training with a group, all in 60 minutes. However, there comes a time for certain people when they begin to want to progress to the next level. Bigger Weightlifting numbers, better high end Gymnastic skills and a faster Benchmark workout time. If this sounds like you…. then let’s go!

I AM PREGNANT AND WOULD LOVE TO CARRY ON TRAINING

Not only is training during and after pregnancy not detrimental, it is hugely beneficial! Not only does it better prepare your body for the stresses of pregnancy, it can help during birth itself, as well as getting you back to your pre-pregnancy activities. The benefits or Pre and Postnatal training are phenomenal, as long as certain training protocols are followed. This is something that I am fortunate enough to be qualified in, as well as being able to help my wife with her training through the birth of both of our sons.
